Aligning Behaviours

Respectful Workplace

Comprehensive Program

STAGE 1
It Starts with You

This is the foundation program of the Respectful Workplace Suite of programs available.

It is not the ‘typical’ compliance-based program. It has been specifically designed to challenge individuals to explore their own behaviours, attitudes and thinking, and importantly, to build the courage and confidence for you to act when you see, hear or experience any inappropriate behaviours at work.

STAGE 2
Leading The Way

This is the next program in the Suite of Respectful Workplace Programs available.

It is designed specifically for People Leaders who are tasked with the extremely important responsibility of creating a safe and inclusive working environment.
Being a leader is a huge privilege and it also comes with a huge level of responsibility. This program explores that responsibility and gives practical tools to ensure Leaders are complying legally, but also leading the way in providing a safe, respectful, inclusive workplace, where everyone belongs.

STAGE 3
Refresher

This final program in the Respectful Workplace Program Suite is for those organisations who have undertaken Stage 1 in the past 18-24 months.

This is a refresher program to go over important information from the foundation program, introduce and discuss any new legislation to ensure compliance to ensure responsibilities are met as well as focus on any organisational hot spots. It is a blended program, which means it is operationally time-effective.

Respectful Workplace -
It Starts with You

  • This program is about creating workplaces free from inappropriate behaviours, where people enjoy working and can optimise their performance and well-being.

It is about creating individuals who take ownership of their behaviour and performance, look out for the safety of their colleagues and build a culture of dealing with any inappropriate behaviours effectively and efficiently.

Importantly, the program aims to mitigate psychosocial risks that may exist in a hybrid workplace and ensure organisations are compliant with the updated legislation.

  • This is the core, foundation program in the Respectful Workplace Suite of programs and is designed for all employees, from brand new starters to Senior Leaders and Executives.

    • What are the various inappropriate workplace behaviours, including negative micro-behaviours.

    • What constitutes bullying, discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment.

    • Ensure everyone is clear about why and how poor behaviours must be addressed and the role they play.

    • Why we need to start to ‘challenge the stories, in order to change behaviour’: culture piece

    • The cost and risk of NOT addressing bullying, harassment or sexual harassment in the workplace, such as creating a ‘hostile’ work environment.

    • Psychosocial hazards: individual and organisational legal obligations to create and maintain a safe working environment.

    • Provide simple and practical frameworks for dealing with complaints in an effective, timely and professional manner, including internal policy and procedures.

    • Equip individuals with the mindset and skill-set to face up to any inappropriate behaviours they experience or witness.

    • Shift the thinking within the workplace where everyone (at all levels) feels empowered to speak up.

    • Stimulate ongoing conversations amongst the team to create an open, trusting and inclusive working environment.

    • Provide a toolkit of resources for all employees to empower them to deal with issues.

    • Happy, empowered and productive workforce.

  • When everyone within an organisation participates in the same, foundational program it ensures there is aligned understanding on expectations and provides permission to engage in real conversations back in the workplace.

    This helps you as it:

    • Aligns understanding on a very challenging and confusing topic,

    • It encouraged crucial conversations vs sweeping them under the carpet,

    • Empowers individuals at ALL levels to play their part in the solution vs being part of the problem

Respectful Workplace - Leading The Way

  • This is the next workshop in the suite of programs, designed specifically for Leaders. It aims to up-skill Supervisors and Leaders to model the right behaviours, mitigate risks, manage grievances and lead the way to create an awesome working environment. The program is designed to unpack the important legislative requirements as well unpacking some key elements of human behaviour to better understand what drives some of these toxic behaviours. Finally strategies to create a psychologically safe workplace are explored, to help proactively lead the way in this area.

  • This program is for People Leaders - Supervisors, Managers and/or Leaders.

Whether you lead a small group, a team, a department or the entire organisation, this program is for those who need to understand the important legal and moral responsibility of holding a leadership position.

    • Ideally, the participant would have attended Stage 1: RW - It Starts with you.

    • Reflect on what’s working, what’s not and any current challenges they face as leaders.

    • Reinforce key messages and learnings from the RW rollout and any internal data.

    • Brain Basics to better understand the behaviour of their team & how this impacts trust, communication and team culture.

    • The moral AND legal responsibilities of being in a leadership position.

    • Discuss the NEW Psychosocial hazards: legal obligations to create and maintain a safe working environment and undertake an activity to identify and mitigate risks.

    • Discuss the new legal requirements under the Respect @ Work Bill: the new obligation to proactively reduce risk of creating a ‘hostile’ work environment.

    • Refocus leadership activities on simple and practical frameworks,

      • E.g. do’s and don’ts of how to deal with a complaint, including a trauma-based approach.

    • How leaders can create a psychologically safe and inclusive workplace to mitigate psychosocial hazards and improve well-being and performance.

  • This program helps educate your People Leaders on the important legal and moral responsibilites of being a leader. This helps you:

    • Mitigate your risk and vicarious liability by ensuring your People Leaders are modelling the right behaviours first and foremost

    • Reducing risks by upskiling Leaders to have more conversations, more often to identify any potential risks/ hazards for their team & implement control measures

    • Ensuring your Leaders are skilled to manage any grievances at a team level, to nip issues early and avoid escalation internally

    • Build greater trust within teams which improves psychological safety and wellbeing

    • Less likely that toxic behaviours occur which leads to much better working environment for all and ALL the enormous benefits this brings

Refresher Program

  • The program recaps some important messaging from the initial Stage 1 workshop, introduces any new legislation or topical areas of concern. It also consults with the team on the challenges or risk factors the team are currently facing and asks for ideas for mitigating risks or ideas for improvement.

This is a very time-effective blended delivery approach to a very important, hot topic.

  • This program is for any employees, including managers and leaders, who has completed Stage 1 and/or Stage 2 programs in the last 18~24 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Watch the interview with Blythe to hear why she does what she does best!

  • Our most requested facilitation delivery is face-to-face! Nothing can really beat the in-depth discussions, interaction, and first-person experience that face-to-face learning provides. After rolling this program out to over 15,000 people Australia-wide, face to face is definitely the best and most effective way to create the conversations that lead to those insights.

  • We highly recommend a maximum of 25 -30 participants per session for both our face-to-face and virtual training. This ensures the quality of the activities and allows our facilitator to engage and hear from everyuone in the group. When the sessions get larger, it allows for more passengers in the group.

  • As part of our standard offer, we provide some post-program resources, including a workbook and key handouts that can be uploaded onto your internal intranet. There is also a comprehensive post-program, which has 10 FAQ video series and much more, as an option for organisations to opt into.

  • As much as we would love to take credit and say that the change happens in our workshop, we know that the truth is, the change happens with what people choose to do (or not do) after our workshop, back in the workplace. The workshops are a great way to kickstart the conversations and get on the same page.

Our comprehensive post-program provides extensive resources, including videos, activities, tips, hacks and tools to make it come to life to embed the learning and bring practical tools and knowledge to their real working environment.
